Fahrenheit to Celsius Chart

Every ten degrees from 0 to 500 °F, converted to Celsius, with the fan-oven setting beside each row. Ten-degree steps match how oven dials and thermostats are actually marked.

How to use this chart

350 °F = 177 °C

Read the Fahrenheit figure, then across for the Celsius and fan-oven settings.

The fan column subtracts 20 °C, the usual difference between a conventional and a fan oven.

About the Fahrenheit to Celsius Chart

American recipes and weather reports use Fahrenheit, while most of the world uses Celsius, so this chart covers both the freezer-to-oven range and everyday air temperatures. Steps of ten match how oven dials are marked and how weather is usually described.

The formula is (F minus 32) times 5/9. Two anchors make the chart easy to sanity-check: 32 °F is 0 °C (freezing) and 212 °F is 100 °C (boiling). The scales cross at minus 40, where both read the same number.

Fan ovens run about 20 °C cooler than the temperature on a conventional recipe, so a 350 °F instruction becomes 177 °C conventional and about 157 °C on a fan setting. Getting that second step wrong is the most common baking error with converted recipes.

Body temperature sits at 98.6 °F, which is 37 °C, and a fever of 100.4 °F is 38 °C. Those two figures are worth knowing because thermometers in different countries report in different scales.

How the calculation works

  • celsius = (fahrenheit − 32) × 5/9
  • fan oven = celsius − 20
  • 212 °F = 100 °C at sea level
