Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain language, what happens to information when you use UnitCalConv. The short version: you do not need an account, and the numbers you type into a converter or calculator never leave your browser.

Last updated: 30 October 2026

1. Who we are

In this policy, “personal data” and “personal information” mean the same thing: information that can identify you or your device.

UnitCalConv (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates this website (the “Site”), a free collection of unit converters and calculators. UnitCalConv is an independent publisher and is the data controller for the Site. This policy describes how we handle information in connection with the Site. It applies to the Site only and not to any third-party service you may reach through a link.

2. What we do and do not collect

  • No accounts. There is no sign-up, login or user profile, so we hold no account name, password or profile for you.
  • No calculation data. Every conversion and calculation runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. The values you enter are not transmitted to us and are not stored on any server.
  • No sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising partners may process limited technical data as described in section 4, and you can control personalised advertising there.

Messages you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use that information only to respond to your enquiry or investigate an error report, and we keep it only as long as needed for that correspondence.

The contact form works the same way, but it is delivered by a third-party form service, Web3Forms. When you submit the form, your browser sends your name, email address, chosen topic and message to Web3Forms, which forwards them to our inbox by email. Web3Forms also receives the technical data any web request carries, such as your IP address and browser type, and uses it to screen out spam. The form is not stored on this Site: nothing is written to a database here, and the copy we keep is the email in our inbox. We delete correspondence that is no longer needed, and you can ask us to delete a message at any time.

3. Information processed automatically

Hosting and security logs

Like almost every website, the servers that deliver the Site may automatically record standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This data is used only to deliver pages, keep the Site secure and prevent abuse, and it is retained by the hosting provider for a limited period.

Local storage in your browser

Some features save small preferences on your own device using browser local storage. This information stays on your device, is never sent to us, and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings. It includes your cookie choice and, on certain converters, the units you last selected so the page is ready when you return.

Web fonts

Typography is served from this Site’s own domain using the open-source Inter, Baloo 2 and JetBrains Mono typefaces. Loading a page does not contact Google Fonts or any other font provider: your browser requests the font files from the same server that delivered the page, so no additional third party sees that request.

Exchange rates

The currency converter requests daily reference rates directly from your browser to open.er-api.com, with frankfurter.app as a fallback. Those providers necessarily see the request and your IP address. The values you type are not sent — only the request for the rate table is, and the result is cached briefly in your browser. If both services are unreachable, the converter uses a dated static snapshot built into the page; that fallback involves no network request.

4. Cookies, advertising and analytics

Cookies and similar technologies are small pieces of data stored by your browser. The Site uses them, and allows selected partners to use them, in the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary. Remembering your cookie choice and basic interface preferences. These are needed for the Site to work as intended and do not require consent.
  • Analytics (not currently used). No analytics service is installed, so no analytics cookie is set. If one is introduced, it would load only after you consent, and this policy would be updated before it went live.
  • Advertising. Advertising keeps the Site free. When advertising is enabled, we use Google AdSense; ads may be served by Google and other third-party vendors. If you decline advertising cookies, ads may still appear, but they cannot be personalised using your browsing history.

Third-party vendors and Google

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and/or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet. For more information about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google’s partner sites page.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at optout.aboutads.info or, in the European Union, at youronlinechoices.com. Where required, we ask for your consent before any non-essential cookie is set.

Consent signals and Consent Mode

The Site implements Google Consent Mode v2. Before you make a choice, advertising and analytics storage default to “denied”. By default, no advertising script is requested until you choose; where Google’s certified consent message is active, the AdSense library may load first so that message can appear, but advertising consent stays denied until you decide. If you accept, a consent update is sent to Google granting advertising storage; when advertising is enabled, this allows Google to serve personalised ads. Analytics storage stays denied because no analytics service is installed on the Site. If you decline, those categories remain denied and, when ads are enabled, Google may serve only non-personalised advertising, which does not use your browsing history to select ads. The default is set before any Google tag can run, so a stored choice is applied first and never overridden by a tag that loaded earlier.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, Google may show its own certified consent message, so that specific purposes and vendors can be reviewed and accepted or refused individually. That message is controlled by Google and records vendor-level choices in Google’s consent system; our banner records your base choice for this Site. Both update Google Consent Mode, and Google’s message controls Google’s advertising. You can reopen our banner at any time from the footer.

5. Your choices and how to change them

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change that decision at any time using the link in the footer of every page. Declining does not restrict any converter or calculator — every tool works exactly the same way either way.

6. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

  • Consent for advertising cookies, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Legitimate interests in keeping the Site secure, available and free from abuse.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not run accounts and do not hold the values you enter, we often simply hold no personal information to act on. Where you wish to exercise a right, contact us using the details below and we will respond within the period required by law.

If you are in California, under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information for money. To limit the use of cookies for personalised advertising, use the link or the Google Ads Settings link in section 4.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Data retention

We keep information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for. Technical logs are retained briefly by our hosting provider; contact-form messages are retained by Web3Forms only long enough to deliver them and are then held in our email inbox for as long as the correspondence needs; preferences stored in your browser remain until you clear them.

9. International transfers

Our hosting, form-delivery and advertising providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, those transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

10. Children’s privacy

The Site is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

11. Links to other sites

The Site may link to external websites and reference public data sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Site or the law. The “last updated” date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
