Mumbai University CGPA to Percentage Calculator
Enter your Mumbai University CGPA and press Calculate. The engineering 2019 pattern converts with 7.1 × CGPA + 11.
About the Mumbai University CGPA to Percentage Calculator
Mumbai University's engineering faculty uses a linear fit rather than a simple multiplier: percentage = 7.1 × CGPA + 11. A CGPA of 8.0 gives 67.8%, and 10.0 gives 82%. The intercept is there because the lowest passing grade point already corresponds to a passing percentage, not to zero.
The formula is not universal across the university — science, commerce and pharmacy programmes publish their own conversions, and the pre-2019 patterns differ. If a form asks for a percentage, the conversion printed on your statement of marks takes precedence over any calculator.
How the calculation works
- Engineering 2019 pattern: percentage = 7.1 × CGPA + 11
- Reverse: CGPA = (Percentage − 11) ÷ 7.1
- 8.0 CGPA → 67.8%

Checking the answer
Check one row of the CGPA chart by hand. A difference of a whole step (10 or 100) means a decimal point moved; a difference in the last digit is just rounding. The first row, 5.0 to 46.5%, is the one worth memorising because it anchors every other figure in the table.
Common mistakes
- Using a rounded factor for a large quantity, where the error multiplies.
- Rounding at the start of a calculation rather than at the end.
- Assuming two similarly named units are the same size.
Using this conversion
CGPA and Percentage (7.1 × CGPA + 11) do not share a single multiplier, so the chart is the reference rather than the arithmetic. Reading the nearest row and adjusting from it is faster and less error-prone than rebuilding the formula each time, especially on a phone at a counter or a site office.
When precision matters
Where a CGPA figure is used for a specification or a payment, take the value from the converter rather than from a rounded Percentage (7.1 × CGPA + 11) row, and note which convention was used so the other party can check it the same way.
A last check on the CGPA table: 5.0 46.5% sits at the base of the chart, and the rows above it step in the same proportion, so you can scale from that first row instead of reading every line. If a figure you were quoted falls between two rows, it is the Percentage (7.1 × CGPA + 11) side that has been rounded, not the conversion itself.
