About the Kanal to Square Feet Converter
Kanal and marla are the standard units in Punjab on both sides of the border, and in Pakistan generally. One marla is 272.25 sq ft (25.2929 m²), one kanal is 20 marla or 5,445 sq ft, and 8 kanal make an acre. A 5 marla house is the common starter plot; 10 marla and 1 kanal are the larger sizes.
Some Pakistani housing societies use a larger “new” marla of about 300 sq ft, which makes their kanal 6,000 sq ft. If a listing's numbers do not match this table, that variant is usually the reason — confirm which definition the developer uses.

Why the marla matters
The kanal is only as stable as the marla it contains. Some housing societies sell a "new marla" of about 300 sq ft, which makes their kanal 6,000 sq ft rather than 5,445 — a 10% difference. Ask for the plot in square feet or square metres as well, and compare that number.
Common mistakes
- Assuming every society uses the 272.25 sq ft marla.
- Confusing kanal with acre. Eight kanal make an acre, so a 4-kanal plot is half an acre, not four acres.
- Buying by marla without checking the width-to-depth ratio, which decides whether a house actually fits.
A last check on the numbers: 37 Kanal works out to 201,465 Square foot, and reversing that with the same factor brings you back to 37 Kanal. Because Kanal to Square foot is a single multiplication, any tool that gives a different figure for the same input is rounding somewhere in the middle rather than only at the end.
