About the SAR to BDT Converter

Gulf remittances are the largest single source of foreign exchange for Bangladesh, and the riyal is pegged to the dollar at 3.75, so SAR/BDT moves almost exactly in step with USD/BDT. That peg makes the conversion predictable: 1 riyal is about a third of a dollar, so about 33 taka.

Because the peg is fixed, any difference between providers is pure spread. On 5,000 riyal the spread is the whole cost, and it is worth comparing two or three remittance services before sending.

How the calculation works

  • BDT = SAR × mid-market SAR/BDT rate
  • 1 SAR = 3.75 USD (fixed peg)
  • Indicative rate — confirm with your bank before transferring

Checking the answer

Check one row of the Amount chart by hand. A difference of a whole step (10 or 100) means a decimal point moved; a difference in the last digit is just rounding. The first row, 1 SAR to ৳ 32.96, is the one worth memorising because it anchors every other figure in the table.

Common mistakes

  • Comparing the headline rate without the fee. A 1.5% spread on a transfer usually costs more than the flat charge.
  • Assuming today's rate applies tomorrow. Corridor rates can move 1-3% in a week.
  • Sending in the wrong currency and paying two spreads instead of one.

Using this conversion

Amount and Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) do not share a single multiplier, so the chart is the reference rather than the arithmetic. Reading the nearest row and adjusting from it is faster and less error-prone than rebuilding the formula each time, especially on a phone at a counter or a site office.

When precision matters

Where a Amount figure is used for a specification or a payment, take the value from the converter rather than from a rounded Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) row, and note which convention was used so the other party can check it the same way.

A last check on the Amount table: 1 SAR ৳ 32.96 sits at the base of the chart, and the rows above it step in the same proportion, so you can scale from that first row instead of reading every line. If a figure you were quoted falls between two rows, it is the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) side that has been rounded, not the conversion itself.
